If reeds and cattails could speak
and milkweeds break open
their bounty of white
where lilies may dance
and not float
in befuddling waves
that keep us at bay
under the
wavering message of clouds
pacing forever
in their status and profile.
If the heart needs to burst
and it does
let it be among
the tangled, wild lupine.
