Haiku Poems

Fazal Rahman

    night of fireflies:
    painter's banquet
    spread on waves.

    River banks-
    season of bird catching,
    lone feathers afloat.

    clipped wings-
the bird longs for a sky,
    lost for ever.

    as peacocks shed feathers
    nothing falls down, but
    rainbows

    An island
    totally dependent-
    a refugee.

    rain in the meadows:
    drenched dancing,
    coquettish green.

    night of the downpour-
    symphony of frogs
    fills intervals.

    slipper strap giving in
    gives me an excuse-
    to know my earth.

    Humid summer:
    rain clouds playing
    alluring bitch
