Probe

Gopal Lahiri

    Morning rays
Probe the wounds of last night,
    Go deeper into the roots.

    Tears soak the grass,
    Cracks on the rocky terrain,
Who were there? Who has suffered?

    Dew drop makes it way,
The latent heat warming the surface
    Of the forlorn delicate petal.

    A few silent words
Wrap in a dirty cloth, never raise the voice.

    Fissure and the gap
    Questions unanswered, doubts raised
    Slide into history.
